TrendTube is a free app that replaces the Trending tab removed by YouTube in 2023. Our mission: show you at a glance what's blowing up right now, across 73 countries, updated every hour.
Every hour, we query the official YouTube Data v3 API to fetch the Top 50 most popular videos in each available country. This data is stored and aggregated to power the rankings, statistics, and trend charts you see on the site.
Videos under 1 minute (YouTube Shorts and very short videos) are automatically filtered out. TrendTube focuses on substantive videos, making rankings more relevant and comparable.
You can filter trends by category (Music, Sports, Gaming, Tech...) for each country. TrendTube covers 10 YouTube categories. Results are cached for 1 hour to optimize performance.
The "Global" view aggregates data from all available countries and highlights videos that are trending in the most countries simultaneously - a strong indicator of international virality.
The Stats page provides a global overview of YouTube activity: top channels over 7 days, category breakdown, average views by country, and an interactive world map. Data comes from the last 24h of collection.
Each video displays a green or red arrow indicating whether it has risen or fallen in the rankings since the last update. A detailed trend chart is available from the video card to visualize ranking progress over the last 48 hours.
Is TrendTube affiliated with YouTube?
No. TrendTube is an independent project using the public YouTube Data v3 API. We are not affiliated with YouTube or Google LLC.
How often is data updated?
Rankings are updated automatically every hour. Global statistics are recalculated on each visit using data from the last 24 hours.
Why are some countries not available?
TrendTube covers the 20 most important YouTube markets. More countries may be added in the future depending on data availability through the YouTube API.
How is the global ranking calculated?
A video ranks higher in the global view the more countries it trends in simultaneously. In case of a tie, the average rank across each country is used as a tiebreaker.
Why are short videos filtered out?
TrendTube automatically filters videos under 1 minute (YouTube Shorts) to provide rankings based on substantive video content. This ensures meaningful comparisons and excludes very short formats that skew view statistics.
What is the weekly ranking?
The weekly ranking aggregates data from the last 7 days to identify videos that have most consistently dominated trending. Unlike the hourly ranking, it rewards sustained presence rather than short viral spikes.
Is TrendTube free?
Yes, TrendTube is completely free. The site is funded by advertising (Google AdSense). No sign-up is required to browse the rankings.
TrendTube does not host any videos. All thumbnails, titles, and metadata come directly from YouTube via their public API and are the property of their respective authors. TrendTube only retains anonymized metadata (rank, views, category) for statistical purposes.
